The Kosovo Assembly has failed to pass constitutional amendments to the veto after failing to secure the necessary number of MPs for the vote.

At the plenary hearing present were 87 deputies, only eight were from non-US communities, while for the vote there should be at least 14 deputies for constitutional changes.

During the presentation of the amendments, Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has expressed her concern over the tendency to undermine reform in justice.

She has stressed that this process has been hampered by some forces, while opposition parties have shown support for amendments to the Constitution, but have insisted that the Serbian List be included in this context.

Contradict against the opposition criticism has come from the justice ministry itself, which has stressed that the amendments are an important step towards empowering the institutions of justice and restoring citizens' trust in these institutions.

The chairman of the Commission for Legislation, Adnan Rrustemi, has called for the adoption of these changes, stressing their importance for empowering justice.

On the other hand, PDK Parliamentary Group chief Abelard Tahiri has voiced doubts about the procedures, saying that in the absence of the Serbian List, no one can proceed with the vote.

Meanwhile, LDK Parliamentary Group chief Arben Gashi has insisted on an efficient justice system and has estimated that the political education of the current majority is limited.

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP, Pal Lekaj, has voiced his support for constitutional amendments to the veto, praising it as a step towards more independent and efficient justice.
