President Vjosa Osmani has commemorated the days of 3-4 February 2000 in Mitrovica, when 10 Serb criminal gangs were killed, 25 were injured, while 1564 families with 11364 members were expelled from their homes.
In memory of two nights of horror of February 3-4th 2000 in Mitrovica, today we honor the lost lives of 10 innocent citizens, among them elderly, women and children who were brutally killed by criminal gangs, driven by Serbia”, Osmani wrote.
“Respect also for the 25 injured who survived and still live with physical and emotional wounds from the night of horror”, she added.
The president wrote that “1,564 families with 11,364 members, forcibly displaced from their homes, are evidence of the tendency for ethnic cleansing of this part of Mitrovica by criminal groups”.
The events of those two nights of horror serve as a sad reminder of the survival effort and of the freedom achieved by blood and sacrifice. Putting perpetrators to justice is a must in the function of long-term peace! May the constant memory of those killed on February 3rd-4, 2000 in Mitrovica. ”, wrote the president.
