Serbia's Ambassador to the United States, Marko Djurovic, has said that Serbia, at the performance of its delegation at the UN Security Council session, is a step closer to Kosovo's international isolation.
Djuric, in an interview for “Vecernje” on Wednesday, has said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with his performance at the UN KS on Thursday, “first of all, presenting his automotives and false reconstruction of reality, now and worldwide has shown his true face to”.
“We have all the reasons to be proud of President Vuciq's speech before the most important UN forum, because it was his speech that sparked the red alarm even for representatives of UN members who recognised the so-called Kosovo so not only representatives of non-recognised countries were openly declared for the protection of Serb rights and thus lined up on the side of Serbia<1>, Djuric said.
Djuric expects in the near term to see concrete things, as he says, Kosovo's sentence and Kurti through broad sanctions mechanisms.
He estimated that it is very significant that such a large number of UN members, at Serbia's request, “responded to the invitation and participated in the discussion, expressing negative attitude towards the actions of the corrupt party”.
“As official document of the UN top body, Resolution 1244 could never be contested because it was approved by UN members as the most important international organisation. We are grateful to our traditional friends (Russia and China) as well as to many other countries who in their speeches called for respect for the UN Charter and Resolution 1244”, Djuric said.
He has said Serbia's president has turned the Kosovo issue into the international community.
“We had the opportunity to hear the serious concern of 13 of the 15 UN Security Council members due to Kurti's recent decision to prevent the dinar, as well as the condemnation of this movement by four of the UN Security Council's five permanent members”, he added.
Djuric is expected to leave the position of Serbia's ambassador to the US, as he is expected to be appointed foreign minister.
