Albania's analyst Fatos Lubonja said that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Tirana on Thursday could bring any signals against Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
According to him, Blinken's first-time visit to Albania could even contact any message for Kosovo and Serbia, thus seeking the help of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“Blinken comes here to issue a signal for Kosovo and Serbia and seeks the help of a factor which, unfortunately, has played the role of Edi Rama, but they need it in this situation. I'm afraid there will come a signal against Kurt through Albania”, potential Lubonja on the “debate tip”.
At the same time, Albanian analyst estimated that the United States would in no way want another crisis in the Western Balkans created, while adding that Blinken's visit could be linked to the issue.
“The U.S. position should be seen in wider context. Above all, with the war in Ukraine, which has somehow put the United States into crisis, as well as Israel's war with Gaza, this is a big problem for the United States. So, the United States is in trouble, there are major credibility problems, it's in crisis. And in this crisis situation, the United States would not want another crisis in the Western Balkans. So Blinken's visit was tied mainly to this”, Lubonja added.
The US top diplomat's one-day visit to Tirana will focus on the future of Albania and the Western Balkans.
From the US State Department, it has become known that Blinken will have meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama, with whom he will hold a press conference.
