Through a post on the social network Facebook, Hoti has said there is no reason why Kosovo is not present in Tirana at the Western Balkans Summit with the European Union.
According to him, speeches in Northern Ireland are Kurt's excuse for leaving this meeting.
“There is no reason why Kosovo is not present in Tirana at the Western Balkans Summit with the European Union. There is no more important agenda for Government than this summit, except for a national emergency. I'm sure the speeches in Northern Ireland are just an excuse to leave this meeting.
The summit in Tirana is the country to present needs and projects, as well as to make necessary consultations with partners. It is the country to insist and contribute to unlocking 300m euros for projects due to EU measures towards Kosovo.
According to Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhely, the EU's plan for economic growth of the Western Balkans has been conceived in Tirana. Consequently, Kosovo government should make close consultations with Rama Government before this summit”, Hoti wrote.
By contrast, in Tirana, leaders of Western Balkan states and European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhely attend the regional summit on the European Union's economic growth plan for the region.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, “due to previous commitments”, will not be physically present at the February 29th summit, Kosovo Government Free Europe spokesman Progress Kryeziu told Radio Free Europe.
“However, Kurti will be part of the summit virtually through a video education”, Kryeziu said.
The EU's plan for the Western Balkans aims to boost the region's economic growth, accelerate relevant reforms, and carry out investments, which can advance the EU enlargement process with these countries.
A similar summit for this plan was held on 22 January in Skopje, North Macedonia.
