Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been hosting the QUINT State Ambassadors and Chief of the EU Office in Kosovo today. At this meeting, Kurti called for the removal of the punitive measures the European Union has imposed on Kosovo for several months.
According to Kurti, the reasons for which these measures have been imposed have ceased since September last year.
The prime minister stressed and the need for the EU to remove punitive measures against our country as soon as possible, as the reasons for which have been decided have ceased since September last year, when the government has made operations on establishing the legal basis for enabling the early election process in four municipalities in Kosovo's north”, it is said in the announcement that ZKMey has issued.
But, nothing further than this morning, President Vjosa Osmani explained that the removal of EU measures relates to holding elections in the north. She said that in this process it is necessary to move forward and said the elections will be scheduled once the removal of the current chairmans is confirmed.
The EU's move towards Kosovo is linked to holding these elections. It is imperative that we always move forward in line with the law and procedures before”, Osmani said before reporters.
She reaffirmed that EU measures towards Kosovo are completely unfair.
The dialogue process has largely damaged the imbalance in this dialogue, one side so Kosovo is under completely unjust measures, while Serbia despite the act of aggression has suffered no single measure. This not only harms it but also encourages Serbia to continue with destabilising actions in our” region.
However, Osmani said that in broader stages, all Kosovo institutions should treat allies as existential.
“I encourage all institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, anyone who does politics to do whatever these relations, in particular with the US, with the United Kingdom, with the EU states, who have always stood by us, we consider not only important, but as existential to the success of our state, because history has witnessed this and this is attested to in every act of our”.
