Kurti after O'Brien's statement: Relations with the US not at risk

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said relations with the United States are not being endangered.

He, front journalist in Prizren today, has stressed that Kosovo is grateful to the US for all the 25-year-old contribution it has made and continues to do so.

Kurti was asked today about US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien's statement on BEC's rule, which he said with that stance, the Kosovo government has questioned partnership with the United States.

The Republic of Kosovo has no ally partner and friend like the United States, so I consider and co-operate as Kosovo prime minister. The Kosovo Central Bank has introduced a 10-point plan for implementing its regulation. We are a democratic Republic Government does not overreach independent institutions such as the BQE”.

“Among these 10 points as a work plan for implementing the BEC regulation has not seen any punitive measures, so without punishment and without incident we want to move forward. Constitutional and legitimacy are my priority, but at the same time we care for peace and security, we also care about the well-being of Serbian citizens”.

I am prime minister who does not want citizens to have less money but have more. The CEC has sent a letter to Serbia's Traditional Bac, hopefully they will respond. The dinar has not been banned in Kosovo, it is only about the dinar as a payment tool, not about the dinar that citizens may have. We don't want to punish anyone, with any measures, but to make this transition legalize and formalize every transaction”.

I don't believe that Serbian citizens see this as a problem, but official Belgrade, which does not accept either independence or crimes committed before 25 years, is the one that brings these alarms before apocalypse. As for the CEC, as for our democratic statehood, as for our financial system we are grateful to the United States for contributing for these, the 25 years of Kosovo released”, Kurti said.
