Krasniqi: If Thaci is convicted, Kosovo's independence declaration will be exposed to controversy

University professor Milazim Krasniqi has reacted to recent changes in the financing of former President Hashim Thaci's defence, which occurred after the change of Administrative Guide from the Ministry of Justice; where defence coverage is significantly limited, writes Periscopi. Krasniqi, in a Facebook post, has written that the issue of protecting former President Thaci is a state issue [...]
Krasniqi, in a Facebook post, has written that the issue of defence of the former president Thaci is a state issue and that with his conviction, he would contest Kosovo's declaration of independence.
If Thaci were convicted, then that declaration of Kosovo's independence of February 17th 2008, inevitable would be exposed to conflict”, he wrote. /Periscope

The process at The Hague Special Court against Hashim Thaci (and others, but especially against Thaci), is not a matter of funding, nor an administrative issue, nor a political issue. It's 100% state case. Why? Because Kosovo's declaration of independence is linked to its name. If Thaci were convicted, then that declaration of Kosovo's independence of February 17th 2008 would inevitably expose conflict. Therefore, the date of Kosovo's declaration of independence is also at stake in that process. The innocence sets that date as the day of independence. The eventual sentence would reopen the issue of Kosovo's independence date. So funds for defence lawyers should never be a topic of discussion. State policy would have to work for that court process to be completed, sealing Kosovo's citizenship. The state mind would have to reson in this context.
