The Constitutional Court in Pristina has declared a condemnation of the former head of the Independent Commission for Media (KPM), Luan Latifi, charged with taking bribes, condemning him to 2 years in effective prison and 5 thousand euros in fines. The indictment was announced Tuesday by the chairman of the court, Alban Ajvazi, reports “Battle for Justice”.

According to the trial, Latif was also pronounced a supplementary sentence -- a ban on the exercise of public office in public administration or on public service for three years.

In the sentence pronounced to two years in prison, Latif will be counted as the time spent in house custody and house arrest.

However, the penalty of fines in the amount of 5 thousand euros is to be paid in the 30-day term after the integrity of the act. If the same one does not pay fines, the sentence is replaced by prison, accounting for 20 euros for a day in prison.

The disgruntled parties have the right to complaint in the 30-day term after accepting a written form of bias within the legal deadline.

Otherwise, the Constitutional Court in Pristina on November 2nd, 2021, had confirmed the indictment against the two accused Luan Latifi and Arben Bilalli, rejecting him as disinclined for impeaching the indictment against accused Latif and had also interrupted the measure of house arrest against him and accused Bilalli.

While, following the defendant's complaint, Latifi's defender, lawyer Driton Musliu, the Appeals Court has annulled the first degree ruling, with which the indictment of corruption against accused Latifi had been confirmed and turned the case into restoration.

After returning to a restoration by the Court of Appeals on November 17, 2021, the Constitutional Court in Pristina on December 2nd, 2021 has refused the request to drop the indictment exercised by defendant Latifi's defender, and later on December 23rd 2021, Appeals has confirmed the decision of the first instance to confirm the indictment.

At the session, held on July 25, 2022, Bilall had pleaded guilty, and the procedure was set aside against him, while Latif was declared innocent.

For accused Arben Bilalli, former director of the Independent Commission Administration for Media (KPM), the court has pronounced a 140-day sentence of effective prison terms and 12,000 euros in fines.

The incident, set up on September 15th 2021, charged Luan Latifin that in the quality of Independent Commission chief for Media (KPM) and Arben Bilalli, in the quality of management and finance director at the KPM, during June 2021, they had demanded and taken bribes of the injured Elhami Haziri, owner of the company “Telkos<62>.
