European Union for Enlargement and Neighborship Commissioner Oliver Varhely has reacted following the Kosovo Central Bank's decision to stop using the Serbian dinar.
Through a post on the X platform, Varhely says the European Commission regrets that this decision has been adopted without preliminary consultation in view of the impact this decision may have on the daily lives of Kosovo Serbs.
“The Commission's view of the recent Kosovo Central Bank regulation, which was scheduled to take effect on February 1st, 2024: The Commission regrets that this decision was adopted without preliminary consultation in view of the impact this decision could have on the daily lives of Kosovo Serbs”, he says.
