In an interview with Voice of America, O'Brien has said the government's decision on the dinar has questioned partnership with the United States.

According to him, in the CEC statement it is not said to be allowed to use the dinar, but that an alternative will be offered. “People have to know how to pay the bills. When I read the Central Bank statement, it does not say that dinar use will be allowed. He says an alternative will be offered.
