Israel's neighbouring countries, and key mediators, have warned of disaster if the Israeli army launches ground offensives in the southern town of Gaza, Rafah, where Israel believes there are some of Hamas' bets along with over half the population of the enclave.
Hamas, the Palestinian group leading Gaza, has been declared a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union, according to the REL.
Israeli air strikes have killed at least 44 Palestinians including many children in Rafah on Saturday, hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has asked the army for a plan to evacuate hundreds of thousands of people before the invasion begins.
He has not mentioned deadlines, but the announcement has caused panic.
The more than 2.3 million residents of Gaza are taking refuge in Rafah, bordering Egypt.
