The former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode (OEK) has had sharp criticism for Prime Minister Albin Kurti's physical non-participation at the regional summit under way in Tirana. Gerjaliu for Online Economics, has declared that Kurti Government is spreading arrogance inside and outside Kosovo.
In an interview for EO, Gerjaliu considers that Kosovo does not have the comfort of refusing these regional meetings. Export growth, employment rate and minimum wage, according to Gerjaliu, should be additional motivation for Kosovo's participation in this Sam.
For Gerjaliu, great damage to Kosovo is also non-participation at the very time the top elites of the Western Balkans are participating.
“I believe that we agree that Kosovo as a state does not have the comfort of generating policy rejection in the face of various regional initiatives, it should be understood that Albania, in particular Tirana, has turned into a city of both economic, political, geo-strategic events, in the Western Balkans, and it is not the distance that makes government participation difficult from Kosovo. It seems that the arrogance of the current government within Kosovo, whether of position, citizens, municipalities or is carried quietly, even in rejections and other regional initiatives that harm Kosovo as in economic, political, integration, but, above all, are sealing Kosovo a refusal that will harm citizens emotionally. The very fact that today is the European elite in Tirana and are the almost main leaders of the Western Balkans, and Kosovo is not present is a damage that will cost Kosovo much”, Grjaliu said.
This is happening when Kosovo is under sanctions or EU measures and instead of being there for reflection with ideas, creativity and will for European integration. Today, the budget sharing of nearly 6 billion euros is planned, agreement is reached and Kosovo is not there to be harm done to Kosovo in its private sector because these events are conveyed to a media pump, I believe it has been a good opportunity for Kosovo's presence and the argument of what you think will be discussed and related to the dinar”, Grjaliu said.
The former head of OEK stresses that greater work is doing Europe for the Western Balkans than vice versa. Maintaining such a summit in Serbia or Russia, according to Gerjaliu, would be normal for Kosovo's non-participation.
“Arsyet for non-participation cannot be found because there is no such thing as having been a summit in Belgrade or Russia, where Kosovo has open political problems, but where projects for six separate countries are highlighted and Europe is present for the launch of the importance of these projects really do not do Kosovo a favor. Europe is doing much more for the Western Balkans than the Western Balkans for Europe. There are four pillars trying to support them are essential, there are needs that really all the states of the Western Balkans have. If we analyze the indicators of the Western Balkans, the growth of exports, investments, employment rates, the minimum wage of all states has more positive parameters than Kosovo and these should be in normal additional motivational circumstances more active than other states”, Gerjaliu said.
Gerjaliu also has criticism of the way the opposition is becoming in Kosovo, which he calls “buried”.
Unfortunately, in Kosovo, the opposition has been exhumed that if there were literal opposition, I don't think they have any reason to call for a different interference for a failure in either direction or other aspects. With Albania, we are two states of a dinars people, and the level of economic co-operation is a level between two companies, rather than how many countries in this direction we have no reason for euphoria, a distance and arrogance that is being generated by the Kosovo government, the lack of good communication between the two prime ministers, and when politics strengthens the bridge criminalises the” economy, Gerjaliu said.
