Prototype of the next Turkish generation fighter plane, CAAN, successfully completed his first flight.
Developed by Turkish Airspace Industries (TAI), KAAN represents Turkey's most ambitious technological effort, aimed at strengthening the country's defence capabilities and improving its strategic position on the global stage, Klonkosova.tv conveys.
Accompanied by a Turkish Air Force F-16D Fighting Falcon ( Tour AF), KAAN completed his first flight in the early hours of Wednesday.
The fifth-generation aircraft, formerly known as TF-X, is scheduled to replace the old F-16 aircraft in the Air Force Command inventory, with plans for phase implementation starting in 2030.
Launched in 2016, project KAAN underlines Turkey's commitment to modernise its defence infrastructure and ensure its readiness for future challenges.
Former Military Intelligence Chief Lieutenant General Ismail Hakkı Beijing gave knowledge of the aircraft's capabilities, noting that KANA's mass production will last a decade.
After it is operational, Turkey's Air Force is expected to appear as a formidable air force in the region, with KAAN playing a central role in the composition of its fleet.
Retired General Erdoğan Karakuş stressed KAAN's transformation influence on Turkey's air defence capabilities, stressing its supremacy in ammunition capacity compared to F-35 aircraft.
With the full production phase scheduled to be completed by 2040, Türkiye is ready to own a frightening fleet of 300 planes, strengthening its dominance in the heavens.
