The police have announced that a 54-year-old foreign citizen has lost his life after a sudden snow avalanche in an area known as “Eagle's nestet”.
Many specialised teams were mobilised for the rescue of the American tourist but, unfortunately, that the American citizen did not survive his wounds.
Danny Hamel from the Kosovo Mountain Peace Research Service in a media address says that around 15:20 we have received a call for help from Brezovica's Brezovica ski patrol for an avalanche accident.
“Time has been misty and visibility has been very low. It's been very difficult to locate the crash site. After some efforts, we have found that the accident occurred at the site called “Eagle Country”.
“After a brief search has been located the body, but unfortunately due to trauma from the avalanche, a foreign citizen has passed”, Hamel has stated.
Be careful to move because a very small move outside the ski path can be dangerous for your life. So just move along the ski trails. The sites are safe and Brezotovza is also safe”, the member of the Kosovo Mountain-Peace Research Service has added further.
While the Kosovo Association for Research and Rescue has announced that the deceased was an American citizen.
