Firefighters warn protests, seek to be paid for risk.

Firefighters in Kosovo continue to be dissatisfied with working conditions.

The year 2024 started for them like 2023.

But for an issue they're looking for answers as fast as there are additions to risk.

This, since the same are not being paid for.

That's what it's saying about Front Online, the head of the Kosovo Firefighter Union, Muharrem Beka.

According to him, though with the new wage law, additional risks are due.

We'll now ask the Government that urgently those legal obligations that now come up with the new Law of the Salaries, but on the focus and with particular emphasis that firefighters are very revolting is the departure from pay for risk at work. Firefighters don't have the risk at work even though the salary law envisions that services that endanger your health and life during work belong to”, Beka told Front Online.

He says that firefighters have become unfair and that it is discrimination for them.

And unless they receive positive answers from relevant institutions, Beka says the firefighters will protest.

We've sent you all the specifics and the reasoning why the firemen are in danger, they have no answers, and we're not going to agree with that anymore. The moment we don't get answers, of course we'll get activated and the firemen will protest”, he added.

He says firemen are asking for nothing more than what's legal.

If we don't enjoy danger, a right we've met cannot eliminate because it's discrimination. We hope that our institutions will finally understand that we are in danger of work. We are interested in solving problems with dialogue. We're not just asking for what law” guarantees, Beka is expressed.
