Durmish: License for illegal drivers to be confiscated

At an extraordinary media conference, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Hysen Durmishi presented some findings involving doubts about patent abuses.

Durmish said the first allegations are that “we are dealing with a broad criminal enterprise”.

He said all these allegations and evidence have been deposited in the tribunal.

Durmish has stressed that if allegations of malpractice are observed “we cancel our exams, patent drivers seized because they're illegally taken, it's another procedure then”.

Allegations have been initiated by citizen information, there are suspicions of abuse, consideration for the findings, that many candidates who supposedly passed the theoretical part in 2021, when there was testing, and the practical part in 2023, and at the beginning of January”, he came.

He also mentioned the unit in the town of Peja, where, according to him, about 666 candidates have passed the practical exam in categories B, C and C1. All candidates, according to him, were from other cities.

We've encountered abuses in Pec, we've encountered a phenomenon that didn't happen. There were 666 candidates in 1923 who had passed the practical exam at B, C and C1. All were from other cities, such as Podujevo, Kamenica, Drenas, etc. It is questionable where a candidate from Kamenica goes to Pec for the practical test”, he said.

He mentioned an examiner who, according to him, spent 200 candidates in two weeks.

“We have a case of an examination for two weeks in Pec has surpassed 200 candidates in the practical part, this is obviously above average, and candidates are from other municipalities”, he said.

Durmish also stressed that if the allegations are confirmed then he will cancel the exams that have been illegal.

I announce that under the legal competencies following prosecution investigations and in case of court confirmations, I am entitled to law... Article 76, cancel these exams. For any information and evidence we have that the exams have been passed illegally we will act in accordance with law”, he said.
