Researchers at the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Flamur Kabashi, said today's indictment for the release of Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca from the decision to drop tear gas in the Assembly “has not been an easy decision”.
Kabashi said in Frontal in T7 that if Konjufca was pronounced guilty to a third degree, he would lose the post of chief parliament and deputy.
This has not been an easy decision... If Konjufca were convicted today, according to the Constitutional Court, the MP's mandate, the Speaker of the Parliament, would go to him”, he said.
Kabashi also said that in that case, Konjufca, under the law, he could compete in the upcoming elections.
“would not have the right to apply to the election”, Kabashi said.
Pristina's Constitutional Court declared a free trial for Konjufka, accused of throwing tear gas into the Assembly. The indictment was announced by Judge Edita Canta.
According to the indictment, on August 10, 2016, Konjufca as an MP had thrown tear gas into the Kosovo Assembly Hall.
According to the judge, it has not been proven that Conjufca has carried out the “use of the weapon or dangerous device”.
