The Central Election Commission (KQZ) is still under way to verify signatures collected in organised petition in municipalities: Northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok for firing their chairmans.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elez confirmed this.
As we have announced, this process will take us long after the data we have received is collected in physical format. After completing the verification of the signatures collected, we will prepare the report for each municipality and announce the ministry, the heads of municipal assembly, mayors and initiative groups. Similarly, the CEC's response will be made public for citizens and media”, Elez said.
If the CEC confirms that the signatures collected are appropriate and verify them, the vote for the chairman's dismissal is held within 45 days. For this vote to be successful, 50 percent plus one vote of citizens is rightly required.
After that, the result is sent to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who has a legal deadline of 30 to 45 days to announce early elections.
