US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Egypt. He met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and US Ambassador to the country Herro Mustafa Garg.
His visit comes as the US said it is working to advance a ceasefire and a hostage deal in Gaza brokered by Egypt and Qatar, Reuters reports.
Blinken left Riyadh shortly after sunrise for what is scheduled to be a marathon day visiting Egypt and Qatar before flying to Israel to discuss hostage negotiations, post-war Gaza plans and the prospect of normalising Israel's relations and its neighbours.
