Kosovo Oil Association Chairman Fadil Berjan has said that this year the trend of derivative prices is on the rise but that it is not pronounced.

According to him, Kosovo, compared to the countries in the region, is second to northern Macedonia, with the cheapest prices of derivatives on the market.

Behrjan has said 2023 has been the year of challenges related to high derivative prices, and that the same situation is continuing this year, as it says, there are movements in international markets and there are reductions of production in the production organisation O PEK.

“As far as the price of oil derivatives in 2023 has been big challenges, there have been major movements in international markets and in the EURZh and production organisation O PEK. As this year began as we left last year, last year the prices were in December these prices we have so far. From now on, there are movement in international markets and there are price movements, we have price hikes. Prices in 2023 in May, December we've had 1 euro and 30 cents, which was diesel, gas 1 euro and 26 cents. We had these awards in January, and it was stable prices. While we have movement in international markets, we also have reduced production in the O production organisation. We have a price increase. Prices are brought to the Kosovo market of 1.33 euros, which is up to 1.40 euros, while gasoline 1.27 euros to 1.32 euros, these are current trend prices, but it is not very pronounced”, he said.

Berjan has indicated that Kosovo, although small, has the largest market in terms of the derivative sector of over 800 gas stations, where citizens can, according to him, even choose where it is freest.

We can't prejudge and say what price we're going to have this year, when we know we have movement, but I can say that in the economic situation what's in our state the real price for our citizens would have been 1 euro, but that's not what the government or the association defines, but that's what the EURZh and the production organisation O. PEK. I want to appeal to citizens, and they have the opportunity to choose where it is cheaper and better to be supplied, because we're the biggest market in the oil sector, we're the smallest country in the world with most gas stations. 800 gas stations where the citizen can choose where he is cheaper and better”, Behrani said.

The Society's chairman has stressed that Kosovo has the cheapest prices in the region after Northern Macedonia, which is as this state has the excise for 22 cents cheaper. He said that despite the crisis the country is facing, citizens are providing for cheap derivative prices.

“As far as the region is concerned, we can freely say that the prices are cheaper to the region except for northern Macedonia, when it is known that northern Macedonia has the excise for 22 cents lower. But our citizens are still being supplied with cheaper prices -- concrete cases in Albania today 1.90 euros is the diesel, 1,92 gasoline -- in Serbia, 1.80 is the diesel, 1.82 gasoline -- our citizens are however much with the crisis we have, with the work being done in the oil sector being supplied at cheaper prices in the region”, it said.

Berjan has said that the oil sector turns 30 percent of the state budget and that, according to him, despite these excise prices for derivatives should not be removed because the situation is not emergency.

I didn't even ask the excise to be removed no matter who was prime minister. It is known that the oil sector fills Kosovo's budget 30 per cent, many MPs, many party leaders have made media shows always demanding that the excise be removed. The excise should not be moved, it's not a state of emergency, the oil situation is seeing that I'm not an expensive ego with state in the region we're second place in terms of oil derivative prices, and there's no reason to remove the excise”, he said of EO.
