The Energy Regulatory Office in Kosovo has already completed consultative reports on inflows arranged for the Energy Distribution Operator (KEDS), Universal Service provider (KESCO) and Transmission and Market Operator (KOSTT) for 2024, which are expected to be approved soon.
On the apps he delivered KEDS and KESCO, they have envisioned an increase in operational spending, explaining that it will increase workers' salaries by 15%. This they bill to the demoralisation of workers, following a 15% salary increase from the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), the largest generator in Kosovo, for its workers.
“Genering at the end of 2023 increased wages again for nearly 15%, increasing the difference between workers in the same sector. This difference is undermining professional workers by forcing them to move against private companies, KEK and COST, whose average salary is obviously higher”, says their app, where they say they will increase their salaries by 15%.
The solution in this situation has been made by increasing operational costs, which will therefore increase the price of electricity, as they will fatten additional bills and not lift from total profits.
However, in the Energy Regulatory Office report, it is said that this will not be allowed. However, according to ZREA, wage growth will be linked to the rate of rising inflation in the Harmonyd Consumer Prices Index, published by Eurostat, which is 5.41%, writes online Reporter.net.
If there are no complaints, until February 21st and changes, then this will have an effect on bills, since it will increase operational costs for 1.14m euros compared to last year. This increase in bills will start paying off from April 1, 2024.
For the Power Distribution Operator (KEDS) maximum allowed revenues will be 128.84m euros, or 20m euros less than the company has proposed.
According to similar ZERE reports, a price cut will also be at the price arranged for energy purchase. Until 2023, a megawatt was preceded by the purchase of the Universal Service supplier with 157 euros, for 2024 they have planned to buy it at 133 euros for MW. But, the Energy Regulatory Office has envisioned the price to be 105 euros for megawatts, according to the reporter.
The current electricity price in Kosovo is divided into the blockade, below and over 800kW spent.
For those below 800kW, the high rate is 7.79 cents, and the low rate of 3.34 cents. As for citizens who spend over 800kW, the high rate is 14.45 cents and the 6.81 cents low.
