The US is expected to launch multi-day attacks in Iraq and Syria against numerous targets, including Iranian personnel and objects, CBS News reports, citing American officials.
US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he had decided how to respond to a fearful attack on the northeast Jordan near the Syrian border this week that killed three American service members and injured more than 40.
United States blamed attacks on Iran-backed militants, reports Skynews.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that the US response “may be at many levels, come into phases and be stable over the time”.
In its report, the CBS did not elaborate on what an approval of Americans meant in terms of the timing of the attacks.
Relations between Tehran and Washington are tense following the death of American soldiers for which officials blame Iranian-backed militants.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard has earlier said it will respond to any US threat.
