American expert Serwer: Donald Trump victory catastrophic for the Balkans

Daniel Serwer, early expert on developments in the Balkan region and American professor, has spoken with critical tone about the role of the international mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also Belgrade's influence in Republika Srpska.

Serwer said Americans should oppose this situation and improve it, not only in Bosnia, but in Kosovo, Montenegro, even Macedonia.

It is perfectly clear that now Serbia is very active in providing support to Milorad Dodik and his co-operation with Dragan Covic as never before. President Vucic has eventually returned from the East and increasingly is leaning towards Moscow and even from small autocrats, such as Aliyev Orban and Lukashenko. The Court's (in Belgrade) early decision to free itself from the guilt of journalist killers (Slavko) Quruvija for Congress (American) is the clear indication that Vucic has embraced the dark side of Serbian politics. And, this will be very important for Americans to oppose this and improve the situation not only in Bosnia, but also in Kosovo, in Montenegro, even in Macedonia”, Serwer has declared.

Speaking of expectations in the Western Balkans from the Presidential elections in the United States and predictions that in the event of Donald Trump's election, there will be no NATO, he said he does not believe in Republican Donald Trump's victory.

“Trump would ultimately be a disaster for the Balkans. He openly says every day that he would hand over the Balkans to Belgrade, and that would be the end. NATO is not weak, NATO is powerful. With President Biden helping Ukraine fight this difficult fight against Russia.

Trump's re-election would weaken NATO, perhaps even destroy it, for the sake of truth, but those who think President Trump will be re-elected should remember some vital facts: He lost his past election by a margin of seven million votes... He cannot win votes, but can take power because of the electoral college that some states put in position to play a decisive role.

I believe that President Beden, who currently has no good results in these states according to polls, has to improve his position. But good, when it comes to American elections, you don't know the epilogue before they end. So we will have to live with this uncertainty. And, I know this makes life difficult not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, you can imagine how they feel in Kosovo, Ukraine, Taiwan, Israel! This uncertainty of the American election epilogue will haunt us over the next ten months, but this cannot be averted. We are a democratic state and we have the right to take time and elect our leaders”, said Daniel Serwer for Face Tv, based in Sarajevo.
