Today, the UN Security Council's extraordinary session is expected to be held, starting at 9:00, where the topic of discussion will be the situation in Kosovo. This session has been called by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and by the director of the so-called “Office for Kosovo”, Petar Petkovic. Kosovo on the Security Council is previously represented by President Osmani and Foreign Minister Donika Grovall. However, as Periscopi has learned, this time Kosovo is expected to be represented by the country's own prime minister, Albin Kurti.
During yesterday, Periscope has sent questions to the Presidency and Government about Kurt's participation in the WTO KS, but the same haven't returned.
In the submitted request, Serbia describes Kosovo's decision to ban the use of the Serbian dinar for payment as illegal, assessing that it is “the continuation of measures of brutal physical and institutional violence against Serbs”, and according to Belgrade, the goal is “ethnic cleansing and the disappearance of the Serbian population”.
We remember that the internationals have demanded that Kosovo postpone implementation of the BEC decision, under which the euro is the only currency for payments, meaning preventing the use of the Serbian dinar.
During yesterday's “a truck with dinars” sent by Serbia's Central Bank has been stopped at the border. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi has also reacted to this, saying Serbia is aiming at creating tensions in Kosovo.
So far, dinars have been sent to Kosovo from Serbia through the National Bank of Serbia, which has a safe in Leposaviq, the municipality in northern Kosovo, inhabited by Serb majority. /Periscopi/
