Albanian Mehmeti-Selim: I used to be a KLA soldier. I proudly enjoy veteran status.

Mehmeti-Selim said the question of whether she was a fighter is very strange, since not only her colleagues know it, but the whole Kosovo.

This little question about me is strange because not only do these colleagues of mine know, but I know all of Kosovo that I've been a KLA soldier and a warrior and proud”, witness Mehmeti-Selimi said.

Initially, witness Mehmeti-Selim has confirmed that she was part of the KLA in the Drenica area from May 1998 to the end of the war.

She said that by December 1998 she had been in the Drenica area, while later she had crossed into Karadaku's operational zone, heavily armed with Kalashnikov and a pistol.

The Witness added that at the time of his involvement in war, she had been 14 years old, and the application for recognition of veteran status had fulfilled it personally.

Witness Mehmeti-Selim said that today she enjoys the status of warrior veteran and proudly maintains it, adding that the benefits of the veteran's status and benefits were enjoyed in a one-year period when she was unemployed, and she stopped at the moment she was employed.

On the other hand, she said she felt bad when she accepted an invitation to come into witness quality.

When I received the invitation to come in the case of veterans as witnesses, I got hurt and I got worse when I came down today than I saw down the court for serious crimes, and I scédu saw none of my fellow fighters coming here for serious crimes, much less for veteran's status”, witness Mehmeti-Selim said at the end.

Later, the session continued with witness hearing Fidan Thaqi, who has claimed to have been at war from 1998 to the end.

He said he was 17-year-old at the time, equipped with the type of weapon “kallashnikov” and has been uniformed and now enjoys veteran status.

On the other hand, witness Ardian Veliqi has also confirmed that he has been at war from 1998 to the end of the war in Brigade 112.

He said that you had at first had short weapons after he was engaged in the part of Scytheright City, and after he had been out on the field, he had long arms.

The same man said that at the time of his engagement he was 16 years old but that he had lied as if he had 18 years of age for fear they would not take him as a member of the KLA, adding that today he enjoys veteran status.

In this case, on December 21, 2023, former commander of the Drenica Operative Zone Sami Lushtaku testified.

The Constitutional Court in Pristina, on 16 April 2021, the accused had been acquitted of the prosecution. But the Court of Appeals on April 26, 2022 has turned the case into retrial.

According to the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK), the accused by misusing their official duty, as part of the KLA War Partier Commission for Recognition and Verification of the Status of the Nation's Witness, Invalid, Vetran, Partitor and Intervention, have caused damage to Kosovo's budget worth 88,769.217 euros.04 euros.

On these charges, the Constitutional Court in Pristina had taken on a release act even on January 19, 2021.
