Germany's NATO delegation has announced that up to 400 German soldiers are expected to join KFOR.
The media report said Germany's participation in the international peacekeeping mission reflects its commitment to stabilising peace and security in the region.
“Germany's participation in NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR), an international peacekeeping mission in Kosovo since June 1999, reflects its commitment to stabilising peace and security in the region. Under the current mandate, up to 400 German soldiers can be deployed to KFOR”, it becomes known in the announcement. Among other things, it is said that the main role of German soldiers serving alongside soldiers from 26 other KFOR countries is to maintain order and public safety, co-ordination of international humanitarian aid and assistance in creating the Kosovo Security Force.
KFOR currently has about 4 thousand and 500 troops in Kosovo from 27 NATO states and partner states.
