16 years of state, Kosovo celebrates independence today

The Republic of Kosovo today celebrates the 16th anniversary of independence. On February 17th 2008, the Kosovo Assembly declared Kosovo independent sovereign and democratic state. The Republic of Kosovo today celebrates the 16th anniversary of independence. On February 17th 2008, the Kosovo Assembly declared Kosovo independent sovereign and democratic state. This anniversary will be followed by many institutional activities. State leaders will set up the state flag in the morning, pay their respects at former President Ibrahim Rugova's tomb, and that of the Ademi Demache event and at the “Adem Jashari” complex in Prekaz. Meanwhile, the Assembly will meet at the solemn session. Later, state leaders will also hold state expectations. So far, Kosovo's independence has recognised 117 countries. The last country he's ever met is Israel.

Full programme of state manifestations for marking the 16th anniversary of Independence:

At 8:00 a.m., the Kosovo government will hold Festival Meetings. At 8:20 a.m., the establishment of the flag of the Republic of Kosovo will take place.

Then there will be honours at the Monument of the Unlettered, 8:30 p.m. At 8:45, there will be homazes at former President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, later at the grave of the Ademi Demach event.

At 09:50, there will be a homazhe at the Memorial Complex “Adem Jashari” in Prekaz.

Honors will also be made at the Monument “Heroina”, the Monument of the Police on duty, as well as on the tablet of children killed during the war, located in the court of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, the solemn Assembly session will be held first by 12:00. By five o'clock, state reception is held by President Vjosa Osmani, Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

The last two activities of this day are the Independence Concert, which will be held at 6:00 in the square, as well as the Kosovo Philharmonic's Solecert.
