He is accused of running the online criminal market “Blac KDB.cc”, which allegedly functioned as a platform for selling compromised information, including account credentials, credit card data and other sensitive personal information.
Masurica was arrested in Gjilan with the help of the Kosovo Police Cyber Investigation Directorate, while the United States is following procedures for his extradition based on the bilateral extradition agreement between Kosovo and the US.
Masurica faces a charge of plotting to commit fraud with access devices and five counts of use of unauthorized devices for fraud.
If convicted on all counts, he could face a maximum sentence of 55 years in prison.
According to the prosecution, “Blac k DB.cc” has been operating since 2018 and has offered to sell sensitive information to individuals, mainly in the U.S., who were later used by cyber criminals for activities as tax fraud, credit card fraud, and identity theft.
The case is the result of a co-ordinated investigation between the FBI and Kosovo authorities, with international support from the FBI office in Sofia and the US Department of Justice.
Masurica remains innocent until his guilt is proven in a judicial process.
