He has pledged to offer Ukraine additional military assistance worth 650m euros, and has said the weapons will reach Kiev by the end of the year.
“I traveled by train to Kiev overnight, towards a country that is defending itself against Russian aggression for more than 1,000 days”, Scholz said through an X post known as Twitter.
He has said through a statement that “Ukraine has heroicly defended itself against Russia's aggressive fight”.
With my return here to Kiev, I want to expect my solidarity with Ukraine”, Scholz, who faces new elections in February, said.
I want to make it clear from here that Germany will remain Ukraine's largest European supporter”.
He said that “Ukraine can rely on Germany”.
This visit has been realised just weeks after Scholz was sharply criticised by Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky for a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This phone call has been developed at the time of speculation about what the new American leadership begins in January means to Ukraine.
The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin calls war “special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. /rel/
