Rohde: Police presence in the north must increase

German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde has stated that following numerous incidents in the north, the presence of police must be increased there in order to avoid other cases. He mentioned Banjsca's case and other cases where hand grenades were thrown, adding that it is normal to increase [...] presence.
He mentioned Banjska's case and other cases where hand grenades were thrown, where he added that it is normal to increase police presence when something happens in the north.
If there was a terrorist attack, there were incidents, hand grenades were dropped, of importance, is that Banjska was there. Yes, the presence of the police should increase, the presence of the police should be adequate, and as far as I've heard the presence of the police has already diminished. Another point I'd like to talk about is going back a little bit, criticising NGOs that comment on the presence of police. It's normal for me to send the police if anything happens. The second is something we need, for Kosovo Police to give an ethnic reflection. Therefore, to recruit policemen and have police from the minority ranks in Kosovo, because for all I know, we have 150 people who are being trained and previously on the street and we need encouragement for such people, because this applies to the Serb population, for political representatives, for nongovernmental organisations. Please encourage your people to enter the institutions because they are people from your community, and this is the first point, the second point is, you know, that it wasn't the Kosovo government that boycotted the elections, we had a situation where the majority in the north did not represent the institutions, so boycotting the elections is not the way ahead, or boycotting parliament”, Rohde said.
On the other hand, he has said Kosovo Serbs should accept the state where they live and that they should co-operate and integrate where they live, not boycott.
“I think that minorities, Kosovo Serbs, should accept that this is Kosovo and co-operate, integrate into the country they live in, and then have the opportunity to influence decisions made, not boycotting. So, not everything's fine, we need to lie more to minorities and we need another way for minorities to accept living in Kosovo. You know, yes, we support Kosovo as an independent state and that we need a multiethnic and democratic society”, Rohde has declared.
