PDK to submit Law for Bureau to Constitutional Court

Gruda, the Justice Department co-ordinator in the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has confirmed that the Law for the Bureau for Confiscating Unjustified Riches will be forwarded to the Constitutional Court. “I can confirm that the PDK, the Law for the Bureau, will be forwarded to the Constitutional Court because violations are clear, there has been no public consultation”, [...]

I can confirm that the PDK, the Law for the Bureau, will be forwarded to the Constitutional Court because violations are clear, there has been no public consultation”, he said.

Gruda said this is a promise of The PDK, from the beginning, that any law that has violations will be sent to the Constitution.

According to him, the government has no interest in making this law, but purposely makes mistakes and drafts the law with violations only to say the opposition is sending the law to the Constitutional Court.

Otherwise, on December 5, 2024, the Kosovo Assembly adopted the Bill for the Bureau in both readings.

Otherwise, on January 19, 2022, The IKD had concluded that the State Bureau for Confiscating Unjustified Riches is not independent under the current Bill.

On June 26, 2024, the Constitution had overturned the Law on the Bureau for verification and confiscation of unwarranted property.

Sending the Law to the Bureau to the Constitutional Court had taken place on February 21, 2023.
