The head of the EP delegation for relations with Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Davor Ivo Stier, has said the new US administration will not focus on the Western Balkans.
According to him, the first priority of the new administration will be China and the situation in the Indo-Peace Zone.
“They will also have attention to the Middle East and the Black Sea situation, especially Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Western Balkans at the moment do not seem to be a priority”, Stier said in an interview for Info Magazine in Kosovo Clan.
However, Ivo Stier is confident there will be a continuation of US policy towards the Western Balkans.
I believe that the United States, not only has it been supportive, but will also remain the huge supporter of independent Kosovo. That's what I realized from the meetings with all the conversationators I had in Washington last week”.
Among other things, Ivo Stier says the stability of the Western Balkans has always been better when trans-Atlantic allies work together.
“The EU and the United States, the new European Commission and the American Coming Administration, will have many things to discuss and many common interests. One of the issues we can be of a mouth is to support the stability and Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Balkans. I expect this cooperation. I believe that people like State Secretary Marko Rubio and Mike Waltz, the National Security Council of President Trump, are dedicated people in the Trans-Atlantic Alliance and co-operation will be easier”, Croatian Davor Ivo Stier, leader of the EP delegation for relations with Kosovo and BiH, said.
