These comments, Mattarella made while talking to the Italian command mission of KFOR during the Italian contingents' welcoming ceremony engaged in international operations.
He said that “integration of the entire Balkan region into the EU requires calm”.
For 25 years, KFOR has been committed to this mission. I have paid close attention to him, and I have noticed that the local climate sometimes gets heated up on purpose, artificially making dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia difficult. Your mission to keep him alive is critical”, he said.
