LDK chief member Visar Azemi said the Kosovo government and KESCO have failed to secure a long-term energy strategy.
Through a Facebook text, Azemi said that after four years of governance, energy imports, which according to him, still continue are of no value to long-term energy development and making the electricity affordable to citizens.
“The question is: When will we invest in new energy production capacities?
These high prices are a punishment for citizens and businesses, while the government continues to maintain undecided and delayed positions to create a stable and secure energy system”.
He said it is a failure of energy policies that have brought worsening living conditions and jeopardises the country's economic stability. The energy system is an important pillar for Kosovo's development, and for this reason, the Government of Prime Minister Obadiah will act urgently after February 9th by investing in new generation capacities to close the cycle of dependence on imports.
Otherwise, we will continue to be dependent on external factors, and we will face further energy uncertainty and price hikes for our citizens”, Azemi added.
