Recently, in an Instagram post, an Instagram reported a major change in its algorithms a “renew from top.” According to post, the platform has tested “the possibility for all users including teenagers to restore their recommendations. With a few clicks, you can delete the recommended contents in Explorer, Reels and Feds and start over. ”

This new function is built on tools that the Instagram already offers to personalise content recommendations. If you need a “clearance” of timeline or you are tired of the recommended content, this restart will help adjust recommendations over time.

You will also have the opportunity to examine the accounts you follow and stop following what you no longer want to see, according to the post.

However, the Instagram points out that this resume cannot be undone after it is started. The new function “renew from the pre” will be distributed globally soon.

The move comes at a time when Meta is facing great pressure from Congress and a large number of indictments by general state prosecutors, who accuse the company of worsening mental health issues in young people and creating an online addiction environment.

While the function is not limited to age and may help any users who want to adjust its contents, Meta has emphasized the difference to teenagers as the principal beneficiaries.

On the blog, Meta points out: “We understand that parents worry that their teenagers can see inappropriate or sensitive online content... In addition to removing content that violates our rules, we take steps to prevent adolescents from seeing sensitive or mature content. We avoid its recommendation and in some cases hide it from teenagers, even if it is separated from someone they follow. ”

Recently, Meta introduced a group of young teen protections through the function of the Other Accountings, for users under 18. This kind of account is private as pre-election and includes a series of restrictions for minors.

Only users over 16 can change some of these qualities by parental permission. Meta hopes that this new function will help teenagers “shape their experience in the Instagram, reflecting their interests and passions as they evolve. ”
