The statement was made public in a NATO media communiqué on Monday when Rutte visited Turkey.
“Rutte also congratulated Turkey on the successful conclusion of the command of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, saying that your continued troop contribution is key to preserving the safe environment for all in Kosovo”, says the communique.
Rutte has praised Turkey for contributing to the Atlantic Alliance, stressing that Turkey has the second largest army in NATO and spends more than two percent gross domestic production in defence.
Both spoke of the war in Ukraine. Rutte has praised Turkey for supporting Ukraine with ammunition, artillery and other aid while saying it plays a key role in the Grurin Agreements and other diplomatic efforts.
Turkish Army Major General Ozkan Ulutash led KFOR's mission until 11 October. After him, Italian Major General Enrico Bardoni took office. /Koha.net
