Pristina municipality answers the Ministry of Culture: The concertal hall has been suspended due to EU sanctions

In a response to Gazeta Express, the director of the transformation in the municipality of Pristina, Gzim Kastrati, said the project for the concert hall has been suspended due to the EU's sanctions on Kosovo.

“due to EU sanctions against the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the budget pledged to be worth 20 million of IPA funds has been blocked, and as a result the concert hall project has stalled. ”

Kastrati far said municipality has excellent co-operation reports with organisation U n NOPS, which he claims will organize the construction of this hall.

He added that the MKRS and the Pristina municipality have pledged that they will provide financial means and expect the EU to join.

Currently, we have the project ready and we are in preparation for necessary documentation. We stress that the call for selecting of the construction company can be made only after resolving issues related to financing and lifting existing restrictions. According to pledges made by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MKRS) and the municipality of Pristina, when financial means are provided, construction can begin. Meanwhile, we expect the European Union to join this important project as well. ”

Kastrati announced that the first phase of the renovation was completed by personal means on the ground floor and that they started work on the second floor and then on the first.

“As to the internal spaces of the current object, the Pristina municipality has completed its first phase of renovation by personal means, creating exhibition spaces on the ground floor. They've also started work on the second floor, which will continue on the first floor. All these works have been carried out by the Public residential Company (NPB) and have been adopted by the Kosovo Institute for Protection of Monuments (IKMM) and the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage (QRTK), with which we have consistently co-operated”, Kastrati told Gazetwn Express.

Kastrati said the construction management of this hall will be monitored by the Transformation Directorate and added that he expects the call for further phases for its renovation and construction in the next three months to be opened.

“The construction management process of the Multifunctional Hall “Europe” will be monitored by the Transformation Directorate, and we are willing to provide detailed information for every phase of the implementation of this major project. If necessary financial pledges are secured, we expect the call to be opened in the next three months for further stages of renovation and construction”, Kastrati said.
