The Battle of New Rezall was the first frontal confrontation of members of the Kosovo Liberation Army with Serbian police forces in 25.11,1997.
Before that battle, Serbian forces had faced resistance to one of the first KLA commanders, Abednego Raja, Sandokani.
The Battle of New Rezall opened the way for support and massification of the KLA. Serbian forces could not imagine that they broke up in a confrontation with the KLA and sought revenge by practicing terror against civilians, with cases killing teacher Halit Geci.
Teacher Halit Geci was killed in Lausa and buried in 28,11,1997. The burial was massive, attended by the citizens of Drenica and all of Kosovo. Here, for the first time, you heard the cry from the heart of all the people U. D K, KLA, KLA!
The great pain for the teacher turned to liberation energy, there, for the first time, the people of its non-compliance, following the battle of November 25th and 26th in the New Rezalla.
They were only three uniformed soldiers, Muja, Dauti and Rexha, who spoke on behalf of the KLA, pledging the country's release. The statement had already been given that the end of Serbian occupation had begun.
The memorial that was discovered today, dedicated to the first public appearance of the KLA, is a reminder of worth to our nation, here in the hearth of resistance and bravery, in Drenica, who with generations gave everything for freedom, to be crowned with the epic heroism of the Jashares and legendary Commander Adam Jashar.
