Tesla has long been rumoured that she's looking to enter the smartphone market, washing a Tesla phone with deep integration with her electric vehicles.

However, while this rumor has existed for years, no real progress has been made. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk for the first time, has clearly addressed speculation about Tesla's phone.

In a recent interview in the popular postist Joe Rogan Expience, Musk said: “No, we are not planning to make a cell phone”. He explained that while Tesla's Linux-based operating system allows the development of a number of software solutions that can exceed other companies in creating a phone that is neither Android nor iPhone, this is not the direction of the company Tesla is moving to.

So under what circumstances would Tesla consider issuing a mobile phone? Musk explained Tesla will only start developing the phone if Apple and Google start applying extreme measures, such as restricting freedom of apps or introducing inappropriate restrictions.

Musk's statement practically puts an end to the Tesla phone rumors. If there are no drastic changes to the main platforms, it is difficult to expect Tesla phone to become reality.
