They have made public calls to institutions to reflect on the harsh, discriminated, and unacceptable situation of artists, writes Indexline.
We've given everything to the theater, our house, our timeless work, our weekends and our official parties. Often without even the minimum standards of dignified treatment deserving of an artist”, it is said among other things.
Full statement:
“Today, through this symbolic act before the Ministry of Culture, in Kosovo National Theatre officials, we make public calls to the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to reflect on the serious, discrimination and unacceptable state of artists.
Artists are the wealth of a society, and their influence goes beyond the stage or the screen, they understand important historical and social events, through their creativity they preserve and follow national and cultural identity to future generations.
The Ministry of Cultures and Governments of Kosovo reminds them that our work and dedication to the National Theatre cannot continue to misuse and be the most degraded in the region, not to talk about Europe.
We've given up and given everything to the Theatre, our house, working part-time, on weekends and official parties. But without even being respected the minimum standards of dignified treatment that deserve an artist.
The legal discrimination that has been done to us, challenges the dignity of our profession, and it's a mistake to be remembered as the most serious insult that I have become the artist of the National Theatre, this legal error stems from this institution that should take care of artist and culture as the fundamental value of our national identity.
We stand here today as evidence of our union. We will not stop until we achieve our legitimate rights, our professional knowledge and the respect each artist deserves. Shame is on those who forced us to go out here without our will to seek what should be ours legally and fairly.
“When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes task” We will never stop demanding our rights.
With respect, Council Grevist 26.11.2024“
