One of the initiators of the prestigious national hero, former local official and current deputy chairman of Montenegro's Parliament, Nikolla Camaj, said Gjergj Kastriot will be proud of the Brad's Bratilla of John Luli, where it blends in with Malta's efforts over the centuries to achieve national freedom.
This is a special day not only for Malta, but for all Albanians wherever they live. The chairman of the National Council of Albanians in Montenegro, Faik Nika, noted that the inauguration of the monument resurfaces Gjergj Kastriot's values as a guide of the Albanian nation, the archhero and the inspiration of their resistance.
For Albanians in Montenegro, it is a very important and momentous day for Albanians in Montenegro who are endangered by assimilation. The symbol of the inauguration of the monument in Malta is a sign of the development of Albanians and reinforces joining the national identity and values for which we are proud of”, Nica said.
Meanwhile, the representative of US exiles' associations, Shdrek Gjlaj, who contributed to the establishment of the monument, regards the event as a big holiday for Albanians everywhere.
“Merrated Malesia and all the highlanders wherever there are the monument of the Kestrooti Blvd, which is being established today and to enjoy it from generation to generation”, said Jolaj, chairman of the Great Mountain Association in Detroit.
After Tuzi's split from the Podgorica Community and the creation of a new municipality, the Assembly of this city unanimously approved the decision to set up September Skenderbeu, which was a permanent community dream in this area.
Gjergj Kastriot's long-awaited memorial was realised in co-operation with the Albanian diaspora from the United States, while the Republic of Albania financed the new square. / VOA
