Portugal's former Prime Minister Antonio Costa took office this Friday as European Council president, which he will hold for five years.
In his acceptance speech to this task that Costa received from Charles Michel, the Portuguese politician said that expanding the European Union with the Western Balkans and eastern neighbours, as he called them, is a powerful tool for peace, security and progress, as well as a geopolitical operation.
Costa, added that both the EU and the aspiring countries to become members of the union must work harder and faster.
Unlike December 3rd, the new European Council president has invited leaders of six Western Balkan states to the meeting.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, due to another visit that was confirmed much earlier, will not be in Brussels on Tuesday, but she has warned that she will go to Europe's mayor one day later, so on December 4th, where she will hold meetings with President Costa and other Union leaders. /Klankosova.tv.
