Blinken congratulates Albanians for independence: Albania has illustrated values of desire for peace and security

Through a message of congratulations from the U.S. State Department, Blinken has found the occasion to wish Albanians a cheerful independence and has shared two words about the country's political course over time.

He has also stressed US support for helping Albania continue the Euro-Atlantic road and the fight against corruption.

Blinken's message:

On behalf of the United States of America, I express our best wishes to the people of Albania, as you celebrate the 112th anniversary of Independence.

Close relations between our nations are built on common democratic values and a mutual desire for peace and security. Albania has illustrated these values through its firm support for Ukraine in the face of unprotested Russian aggression, its leadership in the UN Council for Human Rights and its steadfast commitment to NATO collective security. We deeply appreciate Albania's hospitality and assistance as temporary host to our Afghan allies.

The United States looks forward to our continued partnership in pursuing common priorities, including fighting corruption and efforts to strengthen rule of law. We remain committed to supporting Albania's path towards full integration into the European Union.

I am convinced that strong ties between the Albanian and American people will continue to flourish as we work together for trade and investment, diversification of renewable energy and the narrowest integration of the entire region. Continued close co-operation in these efforts will strengthen Albania, our bilateral relations and the common values we celebrate.

I wish the people of Albania a joyous Independence Day.
