Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, summed up his impressions from the summit in Dubrovnik.
At the Ukraine-South East Europe summit, I stressed the importance of stability in the Balkans. As in Eastern Europe, what happens in the Balkans determines whether Europe will face war. That is why Ukraine's resistance to the Russian occupation is crucial to the stability of the region”, the Ukrainian president said.
“This is the third meeting in this format and I am grateful for the support of Ukraine and its people, for the hospitality of the participating countries to injured Ukrainian soldiers who recover in their countries, and especially for participating in the peace summit. All these countries are really trying to end this war in a just way. We appreciate the relationships between our nations that strengthen and make the world more stable. Unfortunately, stability is becoming a small source. Therefore, any source of security for people and any source of true peace in international relations is precious”, Zelensky stressed.
What caused a stir on this summit also that Zelensky indicated that if Russia had managed to invade Ukraine and threaten all Eastern Europe, Moscow would have reached the Balkans or Baltic countries.
“If Russia had managed to invade our country and threaten all Eastern Europe, there is no doubt that the next region Moscow would use to destabilise Europe would be Baltic or the Balkans. We share a common interest in ensuring that Russia does not have the strength to continue its aggression or interfere in other nations' affairs”, Zelensky wrote. /Telegraphy/
