At least 26 people were killed by Israeli air strikes in a mosque and school where displaced Palestinians take refuge inside the territory, says Hamas-led Health Ministry in Gaza, the BBC reports.
Tens of people were also injured in the attacks that hit Ibn Rushed School and the mosque in Deir al-Bah early Sunday morning. The Israeli Army said it had targeted Hamas militants operating within the centres of “command and control” in these areas.
The military also issued possible new evacuation areas to the north and reopened roads to a humanitarian zone.
Sunday's attacks took place a year after October 7th 2023, when Hamas' armed men attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 hostage.
Since then, 41,870 Palestinians have been killed and more than 97,000 injured in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry.
