At least 62 people have died as a result of the deadliest floods that have hit Spain in the last three decades following heavy rainfall that flooded the eastern region of Vallencia on Tuesday, diving roads and entire settlements in the water, have revealed in 30.10,2024 local authorities.
The search-saving teams have been working all night with gomones, saving dozens of people confined, with television footage showing the state of the flooded town of Utiel. Emergency teams are still working to reach remote and hit places at most, reported Reuters.
For those who are still searching their loved ones right now, all of Spain is crying with you”, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has declared in a television address.
I tell the same thing: Together, we will rebuild your streets, squares and bridges”.
Carlos Mazon, regional leader of Valencia, one of Spain's most important agricultural regions, has said people have remained isolated in locations where they cannot be admitted.
“If rescue teams could not reach, no one else could access it because of the lack of access”, Mazon declared at a media conference, adding that there are regions where the “approach is absolutely impossible”.
Many social media portrayals at night have shown people trapped by floods, with several eyes seen climbing into trees to avoid flooding. There have also been women who have been brought out of the flooded areas with bulldozers.
