This is the US State Department's response Tuesday evening, regarding former President Ilir Meta's arrest, in response to a request by the Voice of America to comment after the arrest of former Albanian President Ilir Meta.
“We are aware of the arrest. We refer to the Albanian authorities for further details concerning the case”, further said in the UN response.
Meta, was arrested Monday on orders of the Special Anti-Corruption and Organised Crime Structura under suspicion of passive corruption, failure to declare and hide wealth, as well as money laundering. On the same security charges, the presentation was set on Monica Grand. The JCKKO also appointed house arrest stations for Pirro Gijo and presentation obligation for Emma Cook.
