Police officials were attacked by a minor who was arrested.
“This is a criminal act of terrorism”, said Adnan Beganovic, the interior ministry's spokesman on October 25th. He said the investigation conducted by the canton's Prosecutor's Office is complete. He didn't give any more details.
According to him, the second policeman who was injured has undergone surgery, and his health condition is stable.
Police officials are still on the scene.
Under laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the entity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a terrorist act is defined as an act that could seriously harm the state. Such actions include attacks on the life of an official, or “attacks on the physical integrity of a person”.
According to information from the police union in Una-Sana Canton, the policeman killed was Ozren Maran, meanwhile Avdo Hasanovic, is the police official who was wounded.
This union strongly condemned the attack and demanded that security grow against police officials, as well as those responsible be prosecuted, in accordance with the law.
“Sulmi against police officials is an attack on the state”, that union said.
