Kosovo Pensioners head Nijazi Gashi has declared to the Front Online portal that Government “Kurti” has ignored the financial needs of pensioners. He stressed that pensioners have been neglected and that the government has not taken any concrete steps to improve their situation.
The government hasn't done anything, but it's been doing bad all the time and it hasn't dealt with the pension case at all. The government has long neglected pensioners and has taken no part in them, despised and insulted us, which is unacceptable, Gashi said.
Gashi underlined that pensions the elderly receive in Kosovo are extremely low and insufficient to cover their basic needs.
He accused Government of lying, claiming it had increased wages, while the reality according to him shows otherwise. According to him, this is an unacceptable situation that reflects the lack of respect for pensioners.
We know that pensions receiving elderly people in Kosovo are insufficient, are a small sum, but this government has not taken a step despite that. The government Kurti has also lied to the other categories as if it has increased their retirement wages. I'm not saying anything. It's known as the situation.Said Gashi.
He also mentioned that, although pensioners have been treated as second-hand civil servants”, they have staged their protests calmly and peacefully, using signs like roses and white pigeons to express peace
Gashi concluded by underlining that pensioners will retaliate in their own way for this neglect, implying that they will not be silent in the face of the injustices being committed to him.
Pensioners have been treated by this government as if they were not citizens at all. We don't have the habit of throwing stones at our police and breaking the windows of the convent, but we've had the most peaceful and cultured way, with roses and white pigeons. The government still doesn't understand so let it remain in their consciousness, we will avenge our way and they will experience our revenge but it will be too late, concluded the chairman of the Pensioners' Association, Nijazi Gashi.
The amount of retirement contributions aged from January 2016 has undergone changes where pensions are paid according to grade classifications based on the following level of schooling: The first non-educated or primary education category ė is 182 euros; The second category of pensioners with middle education -- the pension sum is 198 euros; The third high-educated épensionist category The category of four university-educated professionals -- the sum of retirement is 265 euros.
